A statement regarding the war in Ukraine

Dear Presenters,

In light of the current war in Ukraine, we would like to inform you that we are intending to proceed with the organisation of the hybrid YDYS Conference as planned. We will regularly review the circumstances and alter accordingly should a change in the format of the conference be deemed necessary.

At present, while there are a large number of refugees coming to and traveling through Poland, the situation in the country remains stable.

We believe that the transnational academic community needs to stand united, especially at times of war. Meetings of scholars from across the globe, enabled by international conferences, are an opportunity to cultivate this unity.

At the same time, we wish to express our support for the Ukrainian people and to condemn the invasion of Ukraine. We also wish to express solidarity with all refugees at all borders regardless of their nationality, skin colour, creed, gender identity or sexual orientation, as well as with all people oppressed by both domestic and foreign state-sanctioned violence.

We encourage those of you who plan to come to Kraków in May to take all the normal precautions you would take during international travel. We also encourage you to keep up to date with the situation, choosing credible, verified sources of information.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

The YDYS Organising Committee
